Attendance Matters
At St James, we believe excellent attendance is vital to excellent achievement. If pupils are not in school, they cannot learn and progress. Those children who have an attendance figure of 95% and above will achieve higher and obtain better qualifications than those children whose attendance figure is below 95%.
It is important to note that a pupil who has an attandance figure of 90% in one year on average loses 100 lessons or 4 weeks of school. A pupil with an attendance figure of 90% over their school life looses a whole year of school!
The Local Authority has systems in place to take action against parents and carers who fail in their legal duty to send thier child to school. At St James, we are comitted to supporting parents to enable our children to gain the highest possible levels of attendance.
