Children's Christian Leadership Groups

Ethos Leaders
Through our Ethos group, leaders help other children in school understand our values, spirituality, and prayer. They also guide children and adults on how to apply these values in their daily lives. We firmly believe that by instilling these values, we have transformed our school community into better citizens and individuals who actively contribute to the well-being of others. We have presented numerous times to school and community leaders to share our journey and the positive impact it has had on our school.
Children's Chaplains

A Children’s Chaplain is an individual who contributes to the spiritual, prayer, and pastoral needs of their school community. We envision the Children’s Chaplain as someone who is ‘there’ for other children and staff, particularly those who require additional support, comfort, a space for reflection or prayer, or simply a listening ear that positively impacts their mental health and well-being. Our Children’s Chaplains are committed to caring for all members of the school community, regardless of their faith. Ethos Teams and Children’s Chaplains will enrich the SMSC opportunities and explorations of their school.

Spirit Blazers

Spirit Blazers are a group of children formed to work with schools, churches, and the wider diocese to contribute to the spiritual, prayer, and worship life of their school and local communities. The group acts as a communication stream to feed into the CCPP Board, ensuring children and young people are involved in decision-making and empowered to lead. The group is comprised of 4 children from Bishop Bridgeman, St Maxentius, St James (all 3 schools part of the Archbishop Temple Multi Academy Trust), St Matthew's, St James Secondary School, and Canon Slade Secondary School.

Shades, an incredible program developed by Ni-Cola, a member of the Children Changing Places Team, aims to address the injustice of racism and emphasise the significance of loving one’s neighbour. At St. James, this principle forms the core of our school vision. We have Shades ambassadors who meet weekly and collaborate with Ni-Cola and staff members. These ambassadors have delivered profound worship services, spoken out against racism, and developed activities with other ethos leadership teams to promote equality and fairness.
